January 2026 News Letter
Whatever Old Man Winter is trying to do, he is not doing it very well! And we are sure he is even more in a fitful state when Pinecreek Ranch heralded in the New Year with 80 foot flames of glory from the slash pile. Happy New Year everyone!
Please give a virtual (or physical if you see them) high five to BJ Ferguson and the activity committee for spearheading the bonfire and giving a heads up for the summer activities they have planned.
New Residents
We have some new families who have joined the Pinecreek Ranch community. We welcome you to this most special place. Please reach out to any cabin owner; you will find an immensely awesome community who helps and serves one another.
Roads
There has not been a formal closure of the roads within the Pinecreek Ranch area as of the writing of this news letter. With the lack of snow, it is still possible to access cabins in vehicles equipped with four wheel drive. We sincerely caution everyone that the upper roads can become icy quickly during the night from heating and thawing during the day. Please use a great deal of caution and judgement. Getting help can take time and we don’t want anyone to have a ruined experience. When in doubt, don’t second guess and take the right equipment for the job.
As the snow begins to stack up, the road will be plowed to the pavilion. If there is a change in this effort, communication will be sent out.
Safety First
As members of Pine Creek Ranch, we all have an individual obligation to exercise extreme caution while visiting the property. All activities involving ATV’s, snowmobiles, vehicles, sledding, tubing, hiking, walking, etc., carry an inherent risk of injury. These activities are, therefore, “at your own risk.” We want everyone to be safe and have fun while on the mountain and ask each person to exercise common sense and safe practices while engaging in outdoor activities.
Getting in the know
If you go into the surrounding mountains this winter, please consider checking out the Utah Avalanche Center for very up-to-date information on weather, snow conditions and other announcements surrounding the Skyline Drive area.
If you would like to see the current temperature of the Pinecreek Ranch and some information around weather and current conditions, check out the Tempest weather system. Here is a link to a local weather hub in our area. The Tempest weather system is awesome and gives localized access to ground level conditions.

A little Poetry
The Snow Man
by: WALLACE STEVENS
One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;
And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter
Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,
Which is the sound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place
For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.
Ultimate Dad Joke
Why do crabs never volunteer? Because they're shell-fish.
